The Barbican in front of this door has built two square bastions with a walled enclosure. This gate is arched and the height of this building is 11 m from the present level to the top of the kangurs. The exterior of the building has a flat roof, covered with slabs. The architecture of the gateway is simple, except for a band of masonry carved with pegs of some traditional types of exterior arches.

This gate lies between Kakda Kho and Mandav. It is said that this gate was built to welcome Mughal Ruler Aurangzeb, but he returned from Dhar, without entering Mandav. Alamgir was Aurangzeb's sobriquet. When you go through this gate that stands tall on the mountain it gives an impression of being the only way to visit the history of this place. आलमगीर दरवाजे के बारे में जानकारी

इस दरवाज़े के सामने वाले बार्बिकन में एक दीवार वाले बाड़े के साथ दो वर्ग के गढ़ों का निर्माण किया गया है । यह गेट धनुषाकार है और इस भवन की ऊँचाई वर्तमान स्तर से लेकर कंगूरों के शीर्ष तक ११ मी है। इमारत के बाहरी भाग में एक सपाट छत है, जो स्लैब से ढकी है। कुछ पारंपरिक प्रकार के बाहरी मेहराब के खूंटे के साथ नक्काशीदार चिनाई के एक बैंड को छोड़कर, गेटवे की वास्तुकला सादी है।

काकड़ा खोह से माण्डव की ओर बढ़ने पर सबसे पहला सामना। आलमगीर दरवाजे से ही होता है। इस दरवाज़े के सम्बन्ध में कहा जाता है कि इस दरवाजे का निर्माण मुग़ल शाहंशाह औरंगज़ेब के माण्डव आने की खुशी में कराया गया था, लेकिन औरंगजेब धार से ही वापस लौट गया। औरंगजेब का ही दूसरा नाम आलमगीर था। यह दरवाज़ा 31 फीट लम्बा और 13 फीट चौड़ा है, जिनके बीच में 4 मेहराबें हैं। इसका स्थापत्य सरल और साधारण है। ( Source: MTPC, Dhar )
