It is 27 meters long and 8 meters wide and with a height of 11 meters, it provides grandeur to the monument. There are two floors in this palace and the walls are 2.7 meters wide. The upper floor of this magnificent building was constructed for women of the royal family.

The palace was built in such a way that the royal women could enter the first floor from the backs of their elephants, which gave the windows their name "Haathi Chadhav". Known all over the world for its beauty and architecture this palace is built in the shape of "T" and the walls bent at an angle of 77° give it an amazing form. The most astounding part of this palace's architecture is that it looks as if it is oscillating in the air. It is believed that it was built around the end of the 15th century during the reign of Ghiyasuddin Khilji. The palace was perhaps used as a hall of private audience where only members of the royal family and a few courtiers were allowed to enter. The sight of this palace gives the feel of history leaning on the edge of time.
माण्डव का हिण्डोला महल स्थापत्य कला का सबसे बड़ा और अनुपम उदाहरण है। शाही इमारतों की श्रृंखला में सबसे चमकदार हिण्डोला महल ही है। यह इमारत वास्तु शिल्प के लिहाज़ से, बाकी इमारतों से बिल्कुल भिन्न नज़र आती है। इसके शिल्प में सादगी और सुन्दरता का बेजोड़ मेल देखने को मिलता है। छह मेहराबों से घिरा हिण्डोला महल का मंडप 27 मीटर लम्बा और 8 मीटर चौड़ा है। 11 मीटर की ऊँचाई इस महल को अमृत भव्यता देती है। इस दो मंजिला महल की दिवारें 2.7 मीटर मोटी हैं। महल की ऊपरी मंज़िल शाही परिवार की महिलाओं के लिए बनाई गयी थी।

महल को इस ढंग से बताया गया है कि शाही परिवार की महिलाएँ, हाथियों पर बैठ कर सीधे पहली मंजिल पर पहुँचती थी। इस कारण यहाँ बनी खिड़कियों को 'हाथी चढ़ाव' कहते हैं। अपनी खूबसूरती और स्थापत्य कला के लिए पूरी दुनिया मशहूर यह महल, अंग्रेज़ी के "T" शब्द के आकार में बना हुआ है। 77 डिग्री के कोण में झुकी हई इसकी दीवारें, इसे अद्भुत स्वरुप देती है। अपनी स्थापत्य कला के चलते हिण्डोला महल हवा में झूलता हुआ प्रतीत होता है। यह माना जाता है कि इसका निर्माण 15वीं शताब्दी के अंतिम वर्षों में, गयासुद्दीन खिलजी के द्वारा कराया गया था। सम्भवतः इस महल का उपयोग दीवान-ए-खास की तरह किया जाता था। जिसमें शाही परिवार के अलावा गिने-चुने दरबारियों को ही जाने की इजाज़त मिलती थी। इस महल को देखकर ऐसा एहसास होता है मानों इतिहास, समय की सरहद पर झुका हुआ है |
