This was a summer palace for the kings and was known by many names like Lal Mahal, Lal Kothi. Lal Bungalow and Manik Mahal There are two routes to reach this palace and it is situated in the middle of a jungle. The first route goes through the tomb of Dariya Khan and the other one passes through the monuments built near Jami Mosque. Once you enter the main gate, a large courtyard can be seen around which the palace was built. The palace was divided into three parts out of which two parts are private and the central part was  for welcoming and entertaining guests. The palace lost most of its portions due to ravages of time. All that remains of the palace now is a platform with a roofless
porch, some poles that still stand, and a well made of bricks in the North-eastern corner

The western part of the palace is in a better condition as compared to its middle part, it has a courtyard on the southern side. There are 7 parts from the courtyard to the verandah with poles and each one has 2 arches. The terrace was divided into 21 parts. The corridor behind the verandah has relatively low light so it was used for resting in summer afternoons. When Jahangir was in Mandav, the king of England James the 1st's Ambassador Sir Thomas Roe and priest Terry stayed in this palace.

लाल महल को लाल कोठी, लाल बराला, माणिक महल के नाम से भी जाना जाता है। गर्मी के दिनों में मालवा के राजाओं द्वारा रहने हेत । उपयोग किये जाने के कारण इसका निर्माण जंगलों के बीच कराया गया था। इस महल तक पहुँचने के लिए पहला रास्ता दरिया खान के मकबरे, तो दूसरा रास्ता जामा मस्जिद के पास बने स्मारकों के बीच से गुज़रता है। तीन भागों में बाँटे गए इस महल के दो भाग रहने हेत और । मध्य भाग का उपयोग, आने वाले मेहमानों के स्वागत-सत्कार के लिए किया जाता था। महल के प्रवेश द्वार से अंदर जाते ही एक बड़ा सा भव्य गन दिखाई देता है, जिसपर कभी महल खड़ा हुआ था। इस महल का पश्चिमी भाग मध्य भाग से ज़्यादा अच्छी स्थिति में है। इस भाग में भी एक आंगन है, जिसका आकार पूर्व से पश्चिम दिशा में करीब 128 फीट लम्बा तथा दक्षिण दिशा में करीब 106 फीट चौड़ा है।

इस महल की छत को 21 भागों में बाँटा गया है। महल के पूर्वी हिस्से में तीन बड़े हॉल बने हुए हैं। हॉल के पूर्वी और पश्चिमी कोनों पर एक-एक कमरा बनाया गया था। इस हिस्से के सामने ही एक भव्य चबुतरा बना हुआ है, जिसके बीच बड़ा सा आयताकार फव्वारा है। हॉल के दक्षिणी दीवार पर एक झरना और पानी के लिए बाद में बनायीं गयी ईंटों की नालियाँ दिखाई देती है। जहाँगीर जब माण्डव आया तो इंग्लैंड के शासक जेम्स प्रथम के राजदूत सर टामस रो और टेरी नामक पादरी को इसी 'लाल कोठी' में ठहराया था।
