Chappan Mahal - Barnes House

The most beautiful palace from the third phase of Mandav's architectural art is Chappan Mahal. The
construction started during the time of Nasiruddin Khilji and finished around the time of Mughals. Made from red sandstone, it is a royal officer's tomb. With an open terrace, rooms with arches can be seen on the southern side of the ground floor. This palace is made on a 9 meters tall platform. It is believed that Chappan Mahal was built for the pilgrims that came to visit the tomb.

As the palace was renovated in 1956, it was given the name Chappan Mahal. Also as the suggestion was made by Major Barnes it is also called Barnes Kothi.
